Trent’s nomination was submitted by good friend Dom Cassell and deservedly supported by all present.
Trent has been a Tigers player since 1999 and represented the Men’s Playing group of the RCI committee for a number of years. Trent was instrumental in negotiating the loan of Peter Burge’s original Baggy green cap which now proudly sits in the RCI Cullen Club house.
Reaad about Trent’s nomination here:
LIFE MEMBER – TRENT CONWELL I am very proud to make this nomination and feel it has been a long time coming.
When making nominations for life memberships to our fine club my personal opinion is that that there are three key elements that need to be considered, with the nominee excelling in at least two of them. They are:
I believe this nominee more than meets these metrics.
Through his junior cricketing years, he was Redlands through and through. Playing junior cricket with Cleveland Thornlands before joining the club in 1999, playing under 16s and 5th grade at a time we were still known at Easts-Redlands. He had leadership written into his future as he captained the Ormiston College 1st XI in his final year at the school.
He showed immediate promise as a tall fast bowler with frightening pace, a more than handy batsman and possessing surprising athleticism in the field for a young man still growing into his lanky frame.
Since then, he has matured into a thoughtful leader, a fierce advocate for the club and for player affairs in his role on the committee. Over the years he has been behind a number of improvements to the club, including innovations in communication between club and players, donation of prizes for awards nights and idea generation for club events, not to mention hosting sponsors at club functions where he is a fine representative of the club.
His dedication to Redlands Cricket has not wavered through personal and family tragedies. In my opinion, he has done more than could be expected both on and off the field to earn the honour of life membership. The reach of his influence on the club can be seen on the wall of the clubhouse in his assistance getting Peter Burge’s baggy green cap on loan to the club from the UK.
In short, he is a fine man and an outstanding, long term representative and servant of the club. I am honoured to nominate my good mate Trent Conwell for life membership with Redlands Cricket. Kind regards, |
